About Me
Yao Yao Xu was born in Utrecht and grew up in the Amsterdam area, where she is currently based. She grew up speaking Dutch, is fluent in English, and has basic proficiency in Mandarin (Chinese). She was raised with a variety of sports and creative activities, including piano, dancing, karate, boxing, swimming, badminton, gymnastics, soccer, tennis, skating, drawing, painting, and writing. In her free time, she also frequently played basketball, ping pong, golf, and hockey. Currently, she exercises fitness and yoga.
After graduating with her Master’s degree in Accounting & Control and starting off a corporate career in Accounting, she eventually found her way back to creativity. Her first encounter with acting was in the summer of 2021 when she took her first acting workshop at Mulholland Academy. Since then, she has been pursuing her passion, finding the ideal balance between her analytical skills and creativity. She trains at Identity School of Acting since September 2023.
As an actress, she has appeared in various commercials and social media ads, including Grolsch (currently in Dutch cinemas), KNVB, Rabobank, Mitsuba Snacks, Deity Europe, Veneta, and La Gro Geelkerken. She can be seen in the Dutch feature film De Break-Up Club (2024), which was released in Dutch theaters. Additionally, she stars in the short film De Vaatwasser (2024), which was screened at the CineMachine festival. Yao Yao Xu has also appeared in several short films and will soon be featured in the series De F*ckulteit on Videoland, as well as in the upcoming short film Reclaiming Dragons. Besides acting, she is part of the Septimius Awards team and is a member of the supervisory board of Bellevue Theatre.
